rats need a home in nyc

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

*REPOSTED*

A college in NYC has relinquished 12 young, white female rats to animal advocates. The rats were destined to be killed this past weekend because their usefulness to the school had ended with the semester. Many of the rats are fairly friendly and trusting of humans, while others are still reserved and shy and need more socialization. None of them are aggressive. All of them have the potential to be wonderful companion animals. Rats are clean, intelligent, curious and affectionate animals who are easy to care for. Please help these rats by adopting or (longer-term) fostering, so we can continue to help other animals who need us.

stop the biotechnology conference in San Diego (repost)

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Fight GMO’s, vivisection, corrupt drug companies, and biological weapons!

This years annual BIO (Biotechnology Industry Organization) Convention will be held in San Diego, CA from June 17th-20th.

BIO consists of 1,150 scientists and federal agencies who seek to commodify our lives with false solutions of world problems through biotechnology. Hundreds of different industries will be attending this years convention including Monsanto and DuPont. These are the same industries who modify our food systems, take part in corporate globalization, spill indigenous blood and steal their knowledge for substances such as pharmaceuticals, and wage war across the world for profit among a long list of other catastrophes. We need to show these industries that we will not stand for all of the atrocities they commit on a daily basis.

Let’s show them that they are not welcome in San Diego or anywhere else in this world!

The first day of this convention on June 17th will start off with a Rally followed by a Reclaim The Streets at SD City College @ 3 PM. It is located at Park & A St. in San Diego, CA.

“Come one, come all in opposition to the biotechnology industry and all their devastating practices. Join us in FESTIVITIES and RESISTANCE as we attempt to DISRUPT and counter the multinational corporations who seek to continue commodifying OUR LIVES! Bring signs and banners, costumes and black bloc, your voice and other creative tools of SUBVERSION.

Remember: June 17th. 3 PM. SD City College. Park & A St.

See you there!

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

6/6/08. yesterday was the first day of tour. the first stop was up in northern washington in the town of Bellingham. The show and kids made it feel like it was a Canadian show even though we were still in the u.s. Intro5pect and citizen fish are amazing and blew me away, im looking forward to spending the next month seeing these bands everyday. Quite a few vegans came up to the table in appreciation for us being at the show because bellingham gets lonely for vegans. that was sad to hear. not a single all vegan/vegetarian restaurant. i hope one day soon not a single vegan lives feeling alone in this world.

we spend the night in seattle with our good friends and nom nom’d on mighty o’ donuts all night and morning.

Tacoma, Wa show is tonight. bring on the crust punx.

ps. i got an eye infection from a sweet kitty so i may or may not currently be wearing an eye patch. it rules.

sweet pea vegan bakery in portland, or. says hi.

please remember

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

i have been hearing quite a bit about being respectful to cops because cops are people too and they are just making a living. and not all cops are bad. this idea couldnt be more false. the idea of a good cop does not exist. a good cop is just one command away from throwing you down and putting you in cuffs. a good cop is just one order away from splitting open your head and putting you in the hospital, and then jail. the police are not our friends. the police have never been there for us and never fucking will be.

stop respecting police.

dont talk to the police or the fbi.
