18 Rabbits liberated ( PORTUGAL )

Monday, December 28th, 2009

taken from Direct Action.Info

Nov 9th. 2009.

“Some friends of mine from Portugal removed two boxes containing nine rabbits each from a vehicle that was going to transport them to the slaughterhouse. Unfortunately, they had no means of transporting more than those two boxes, and were unable to liberate the hundreds of others that were left in the remaining boxes that vehicle carried. This video shows them liberating the eighteen rabbits after transporting them to a safe place where hunting is prohibited. I wish the rabbits adapt well to living in the wild since they were bred and kept in captivity all their life, but no matter what dangers they may face now, they’re free and surely better off than facing certain death in a slaughterhouse.”

Daniel Wilson needs vegan food! ( jail support! )

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Please call Thurston County Jail at 360-786-5510 and request Daniel Wilson be given adequate vegan meals immediately.

Daniel is a political prisoner in Washington that was jailed as an Olympia mayday arrestee. He was jailed for nothing more than using his first amendment right while protesting. Daniel has been denied vegan food for 19 days now and needs our help!

Calls between 1:30 to 4:30 PM PST are most effective. Calling the administration office, medical wing, and food staff would be great, but if even one of these wings gets an extra phone call, you’ll be helping Daniel.

OSU Says No to Baboon Study.

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

20080409-baboon-and-child

A plan to conduct anthrax experiments on baboons has been stopped by Oklahoma State University president Burns Hargis. The project had already been approved by the National Institutes of Health and by the university’s own Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). More than 100 baboons would have been experimented on, and all would be euthanized afterwards.

Hargis has said that this decision was not influenced by the threat of protests by animal rights activists but that the decision was complicated and contained “confidential factors” that could not be discussed. Keep in mind that in April of 2009, OSU had announced that they would no longer be euthanizing dogs in teaching labs at the veterinary school. Controversy about euthanizing animals after students experimented on them arose after Madeleine Pickens threatened to redirect a $5 million donation to the vet school because she did not agree with such practices. But I’m sure that Madeleine’s disapproval in the schools experiments had nothing to do with this decision either…..right Burns Hargis?

Does Burns Hargis know that these experiments would be worthless in the eyes of science? Is Hargis scared that anti vivisection demonstrations at his school would shed light on the experiments? Whatever the real reason is for ending the experiments, there’s no question that compassionate people and 100+ baboons are glad with the decision.

davenportgrandjury

DUE TO OVERWHELMING RESPONSE, WE HAVE CUT OFF THE ‘free gift’ OFFER. THANK YOU!

Our friend Carrie Feldman is currently in jail for refusing to testify in front of a secret grand jury in Davenport, Iowa. The grand jury was most likely trying to get information about the local animal rights movement and the activists who are out on the streets fighting for animal liberation. As you read this, Carrie is sitting in jail lonely and bored. She would love to get a letter from you. Really, it would make her day. If you send her a letter, we will send YOU something. Anything from stickers, shirts, and patches.

In order to prove that you wrote a letter to her, you will write the letter via email and send it to davenportgrandjury@riseup.net . Your email is then printed out and given to Carrie. I will be able to confirm the letter if sent this way. Please make this as lengthy as you can, the longer, the better. Make sure to include your mailing address in the body of the email, so she can write you back!

If you don’t care about getting something in return, then you can write her a real letter and send it yourself!

After you email your letter, send us an email telling us that you wrote Carrie info@veganthis.org. Let us know your address and what size of shirt you are ( Womyn sizes or Unisex sizes ). Just a thank you from us for writing Carrie.

Fur Free Utah protests report-back

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Countless animal rights activist from across the country gathered in Utah for their fur free weekend. These pictures and video are from Morgan, UT. More than 15 fur farms operate in Morgan, making it the fur farming capital of the world. This visit to Morgan has shown the fur farming community that they are not doing business behind closed doors anymore.

People are watching, and people are furious that this barbaric industry is still going on. Some people are protesting the unethical practice of killing innocent beings for a coat, other people are going to take action into their own hands by making visits to the farm under the cover of the night and liberating hundreds upon thousands of beings. The fur industry is unethical, cruel, and totally unnecessary.

Fur farmers are a dying breed and it is starting to show as more and more people become aware of what they can do to help end this industry once and for all. Do something, Do anything. The animals are counting on us.
